PERSONAL PROJECT - BATMAN (2026)
In my spare time, I decided to improve my anatomical skills with a course from Flipped Normals. I started with a simple base mesh and sculpted all the muscle groups and forms on top. After a few weeks, the superhero anatomy was finished.
Not long after that, my friend had a birthday, so I thought it would be relatively easy to turn the model into a Batman statue and 3D print it as a present.
The present was a success, but I still couldn’t let go of the idea of finishing the CG asset.
So in ZBrush, I improved every aspect of the model — resculpted the folds and creases of the fabric, reprojected face details from XYZ textures, and added tons of details that wouldn’t be visible on a small statue.
Then I textured the asset in Substance Painter and finished the surfacing in Arnold inside Maya. The cloak was simulated in Marvelous Designer, and for the rig and animation, I tested a trial version of Character Creator.
Just a simple idle animation was enough. Then I set up the cameras and rendered with Arnold using my GPU. After a few days of rendering, I put together an edit with sound in DaVinci.
